Marriage record<\/strong><\/dt>\n
\u2014 is a record made by an official, an employee of the Civil Registry Office or an employee of the House of Justice of Georgia about a marriage, indicating all surnames, first names, dates of birth of the spouses, and other circumstances of the case (for example, data on divorce before the marriage).<\/dd>\n
A marriage record in Georgia (and other countries) is made on the day of the marriage. Later, in many countries, changes are made to it if any occurred. For example, a change of surname or divorce, death of one of the spouses.<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n\n\n

What data does a marriage record contain<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

This document is a marriage certificate issued in the Georgian SSR. It contains the following data:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. Date of marriage registration<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. Marriage record number<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  3. Place of marriage registration<\/strong>: (the specific Civil Registry Office department and city are indicated).<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  4. Surname, first name, patronymic of the groom and bride<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  5. Date of birth of the groom and bride<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  6. Place of birth of the groom and bride<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  7. Place of residence of the groom and bride<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  8. Nationality of the groom and bride<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  9. Marital status before entering into marriage<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  10. Information about the identity document<\/strong> (passport or other document).<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  11. Information about the conclusion or dissolution of previous marriages<\/strong> (if any).<\/li>\n\n\n
  12. Signatures of the groom and bride<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    It should be noted that not all data was always entered into civil act records. Therefore, when a copy of a civil act record or an extract from a civil act record is issued, some data may be missing, for example, nationality.<\/p>\n\n\n<\/article>\n

    It is impossible to obtain an original civil act record in Georgia.<\/strong> It is stored in its original form in the archives of the Civil Registry Offices or the House of Justice of Georgia, archives of Synagogues, and local archives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    You can order and receive only a copy of a marriage record or an extract from a civil act record (archival extract).<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

    A copy of a civil act record is not always the best option, as it may be carelessly filled out, have a worn appearance, be damaged, be composite, or be illegible. A copy of a civil act record is literally a copy of the civil act book \u2014 the corresponding pages.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    It is best to order a printed extract from a civil act record<\/strong> or archive on an official form. Such a document is easy to read and has obvious characteristics of a document.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
