Definition of a Driver’s License
Driver’s license is an official document issued by the competent authorities of Georgia, which confirms the holder’s right to drive certain categories of vehicles on the territory of Georgia.
To replace a driver’s license, the following documents must be submitted to the service organization:
- Identity card;
- Valid driver’s license;
- Medical certificate (form IV-100/a);
- Receipt confirming payment of the fee.
The reason for replacing a driver’s license may be:
- Application of the driver’s license holder;
- Issuance of a national driver’s license of a unified format based on a driver’s license issued by a foreign state;
- Expiration of the driver’s license;
- Unfitness due to wear, damage affecting the appearance of the driver’s license (impossibility of reading data or partial loss of part of the license);
- Inaccuracies in the driver’s license;
- Inaccuracies in the registration records reflected in the driver’s license register;
- Mismatch between the data specified in the driver’s license and the registration records reflected in the driver’s license issuance register;
- Loss of the driver’s license;
- Other circumstances determined by law

International driver’s license is issued to a citizen of Georgia, a citizen of a foreign state, and a stateless person based on a driver’s license with the same categories/subcategories of the right to drive a vehicle and is valid outside Georgia on the territory of Georgia.
Countries party to the Vienna Convention on Road Traffic of November 8, 1968, in accordance with the established procedure (in 88 countries).
An international driver’s license is a document issued in accordance with Appendix No. 7 of the Vienna Convention on Road Traffic.
