In Georgia, the nationality of the child is not written in the birth certificate. The nationality of the parents is also not indicated there.

However, clients often request data on nationality from the civil registry office or from the House of Justice of Georgia. For such cases, our agency offers birth certificates where the nationality will be indicated.

What are such certificates needed for? For example, these documents are often requested to obtain citizenship (e.g., of Greece, Israel, and others).

You will need to provide a power of attorney to our employee, specifying in it that such a certificate (certificate of nationality) must be obtained.

It should be kept in mind that even if your old birth certificate or the death certificate of your parent, grandmother, or grandfather indicates the nationality, this does not mean that such information exists and is recorded in the archive books of the Civil Registry Office or the House of Justice.

There are cases when there is no information about nationality in the archive books (civil status records). In that case, other avenues must be sought. For example, proving one’s nationality through the court or through grandparents in the descending line.
